The series Of Sky and Earth is a play on the alchemical notion of 'as above, so below,' which I am applying to Jung's idea that our outer world is a reflection of our inner state. The paintings depict storms in the Mojave desert, the lushness of Brazil, the vastness of Sky and Earth, and the drama of the human condition that plays out in between. They are meant to reflect the beauty in Nature and evoke a sense nostalgia for what climate change is rapidly taking away from us. The presence of 'The Unknown Woman" appears in all my work even when she is not actually represented. She is the eternal part of ouselves that is now exploring the darker side of our inner state, especially with the political and social issues activated at this time. Read more >
