The chemical operation of exaltation is a process of releasing gas or air from a substance, by which the substance is raised to a purer form. In alchemy, it was the stage of the rising phoenix and the rising dawn (aurora consurgens) experienced as a spiritual ecstasy or euphoria, an altered state of consciousness, or spiritual enlightenment.
