"The Unicorn Surrenders to a Maiden" is one of seven tapestries from "The Unicorn Tapestries" or the "Hunt of the Unicorn" (1495-1505). The tapestries survived the French Revolution. However, "The Unicorn Surrenders" tapestry survived in only two fragments. The hunt takes place within a closed garden, the Hortus conclusus, which has roots in the "Song of Songs".
"A garden enclosed is my sister, my bride; a spring enclosed, a fountain sealed."
"Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his precious fruits."
